French Dating Habits

french dating habits
I need your help! I need some questions cleared up about how different cultures affect dating and marriage.?

If you are of a different culture than mine, such as jewish, greek, asian, french, and etc i would like to know how that affects your life, such as in your culture what are the marriage custons, dating habits, funeral customs and treatment of the elderly like. Please respond, i really need to know.

You’re asking for *a ton* of information so I’ll try to provide a brief summary and post some links for additional research. I am a Jew by conversion so some of this hasn’t affected me as much but I’ll still try.

Dating: Traditionally Jewish young people didn’t date (in very Orthodox circles, this is still the case). The parents would approach each other, usually based on desirable qualities in the young person or their parents. The one thing that makes Jewish arrangements different from other cultures is that by Jewish Law, parents were required to gain verbal acceptance of the prospective spouse from their child. So the parents of a daughter had to allow her to meet the boy and were supposed to ask her if she would accept him. If not, the search started again.
Today, Most young people date the same way everyone else does, though more traditional young people will limit physical contact until after marriage.

Marriage: Weddings are somewhat different. The “marriage ceremony” is actually a phrase which the groom says to his bride, and the ring he gives her. The Rabbi’s only real responsibility is to speak a series of seven blessings over the couple.

The Elderly: The elderly are considered wise and experienced and are valued in the Jewish community for these traits. We are supposed to treat our elderly members with great respect.

Funeral Rites: From the moment of death until burial, a Jewish person’s body is to be attended by fellow Jews. There is a society in most major cities which attends the body, prepares it for burial, and makes all the necessary arrangments.
